Buhari dissolves NNPC board


President Mu­hammadu Bu­hari, has dis­solved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with immediate effect.

In a two paragraph press statement by the Office of the Head of Ser­vice of the Federation, said that the directive to that effect was conveyed in a letter signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Barr. Danladi Kifasi, dated June 26, 2015.
In it the President thanked members of the dissolved board for their services to the nation.
Former President Good­luck Jonathan had con­stituted the sacked Board two years ago.
Jonathan had said the recomposition was in fur­therance of his commit­ment to reform and the im­provement of the oil and gas industry for the benefit of Nigerians.
The sacked board was made up of the Minister of Petroleum Resources as the chairman; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Fi­nance as member as well as the Group Managing Director, NNPC, and oth­ers as member.
