President Muhammadu Buhari, has dissolved the board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) with immediate effect.
In a two paragraph press statement by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, said that the directive to that effect was conveyed in a letter signed by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Barr. Danladi Kifasi, dated June 26, 2015.
In it the President thanked members of the dissolved board for their services to the nation.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan had constituted the sacked Board two years ago.
Jonathan had said the recomposition was in furtherance of his commitment to reform and the improvement of the oil and gas industry for the benefit of Nigerians.
The sacked board was made up of the Minister of Petroleum Resources as the chairman; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance as member as well as the Group Managing Director, NNPC, and others as member.
